Indian-born British novelist Saurav Dutt is an Author, Political Analyst and Human Rights Campaigner.
A TIME magazine featured writer, his acclaimed debut novel 'The Butterfly Room' explored issues of domestic violence and homophobia within South Asian communities and has been showcased alongside leading political figures and human rights campaigners.
After further exploring the issue of psychological abuse and domestic violence in the biography of victim Meera Dalal who took her life due to the experiences she underwent in 'Fall in Light: A Mother’s Story' Dutt was commissioned by a major Hollywood production house to pen the official novelization of the major motion picture 'Tiger' (starring Golden Globe winning and Academy Award nominated actor Mickey Rourke) which subsequently featured on Netflix. 'Tiger' is the biographical account of Parminder Singh Nagra, a trailblazing Sikh boxer who fought successfully for the right to compete in the ring with his beard, an essential part of his faith. Dutt also commemorated the centenary of the infamous Amritsar Massacre with 'Garden of Bullets: Massacre at Jallianwala Bagh' which was featured in TIME magazine and which was launched at the UK House of Lords on the centenary of the massacre.
Further works have included a ‘Bollywood novel’ based around the life and immense impact of major Indian motion picture movie star and cultural icon Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Dear Mr. Bachchan’, a study of mental health challenges in ‘The Man from Nowhere’, examination of grief and loneliness in ‘The Winter Song’, and a study of the challenges of Indian farmers in the Punjab in the timely ‘Land of Mine’.
His political commentary, particularly in the South Asian and UK/US/India sphere has led to a political biography of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in ‘Modi and Me: A Political, Cultural, and Religious Reawakening’ and an examination of the MAGA and MIGA movements through the prism of US/India ties in ‘Balance of Power: US/India Ties in the Epoch of Trump and Modi’.
His work for human rights and charity campaign work has taken Dutt to speaking engagements at the WEF, IKWRO, IWN, Houses of Parliament and TEDx. His work and commentary has been featured in TIME, CNN, Newsweek, BBC television and radio, Sky News, GQ, VICE, Newsweek, Business Insider, Al Jazeera, The Independent, The Telegraph, and major Indian media houses such as Republic World, Times Now, and CNN News 18.
